DHPP vs receiver warranty

Hi,

I just received my bill, and got my 18th credit for the DHPP. I called to inquire about cancelling it, and was told that if I cancelled the DHPP then I would have no warranty whatsoever. I understand this, but I just upgraded to the Vip 222 receiver through the Dish'n It up promotion, and it was supposed to come with a 1 year warranty.

The rep told me that I had to pay for the DHPP to get the 1 year warranty on the receiver!!! Is that correct?

OK, problem solved. I got out the manual for the 222, and it does say that the receiver has a 1 year warranty.

I called back and talked to "Technical Support", and got through to a CSR named Jennifer. I was amazed that she was not based in a foreign country and I could actually understand what she was saying!

She explained to me what DHPP was, what it covered and did not cover, and confirmed that my new 222 has a 1 year parts and labor warranty regardless of whether or not I have the DHPP. Based on this, I cancelled the DHPP.

I guess the moral of this story is to always talk to tech support.
