ok.. my elliptical dish (the larger of the two) has a double and a single LNB on it.. says DISH NETWORK 1000 on the dish.. the double LNB has a tag .. dppplus 15130 and says Dish Plus, the single says AKHI-DPS DishPro..

the second dish is a Dish 500 Plus with a dual LNB AK72-BTE

my question, which is better, why, and what do I need to hook these into my receivers? any special switches, or just line them up, plug them in? at present, there will be 3 TV's.. LR, MSTR 1, MSTR 2.. later there will be another two TV's .. one in the guest bdrm, and one in the TV/Lounge area.. thanks for any assistance..

I also have 4 DirectTV dish's, one has a triple LNB, and I'm not sure off the top of my head what the other 3 have, but.. if anyone wants them. let me know.. otherwise, I'll toss them at the dump next trip..

Dish 1000 is for 110, 119 and 129 satellites - with it you can get all the SD and HD programming in the Western arc of Dish Network. The 500 plus is for 110, 118.5 and 119, gets all SD programminh on 110 and 119 plus international programming off 118.

I believe the D1000 can provide data for 2 HD dual tuner receivers (maybe 3) without any additional switches.

I have a D1000 with a DPP44 switch because I have 4 HD receivers.

The D500+ is used mainly only for international programming with regular dish SD programming.

not trying to hijack, but...

I have a dish 500 and one that just says plus on it. I get 61.5, 110, 118, 119, and 129. Are some of these satellites just clones of each other? I know I need 118 for my wife's Brazilian channels. I am an Absolute subscriber outside of Houston, TX. My signal on 129 sometimes reads as high as 79, but then in a few seconds it drops to 21. But I don't lose any channels (as far as I recall). I lost the international channels today, and went out and wiggled my "plus" dish, but that caused me to lose 61.5, 110, and 119. 129 was just hanging out around 21. I put that back and jiggled the 500, and got my internationals back. So anyway, satellite clones, should I just focus on getting good signal strength with the plus dish and leave the 500 alone for international?

No, those are not clones of each other. There is a 1000+ that gets all those satellites with one dish. I believe the reflector is the same size as the 500+. I fail to see why you have a regular Dish 500 at all; you "should" just have the 1000+ with 4 cables feeding a DPP44 switch.
