It has been awhile since I have posted, thanks to SG for fixing my issue with my DISH.

I have a three part question that hould probably be split up.

1) I have in place a Holland DPD2 Diplexer Signal Combiner and Splitter.

I currently have the VHF/UHF on the TV (standard Def)in the basement. The SAT signal is going upstairs to the Plasma. I am about complete building out the mancave and will be bringing the Plasma in there and running standard def where the plasma is currently.

Would this be as easy as switching the cables on the diplexer and moving the SAT box to the cave where the Plasma will be?

2) I noticed last night that in my DISH menu I could scan for local channels. Does that mean I can hook an HD antenna up to the SAT box and be able to get off air signal?

3) I have used a standard splitter to split the UHF/VHF signal from living room and bed room. I ahve to currently bring the remote #2 with me when going from one room to another. I know I can only watch one program at a time on that split signal but can I buy a second #2 remote so I can leave one in each room.

Thanks for all your help. This Site Rocks

- Yes.. but you have to change the direction on both diplexers. Unless you have a really crazy set up, which is unlikely, there should only be two diplexers in line on that receiver. One is behind the receiver, and that one would actually stay like it is, don't change it. There will be another diplexer either in your attic, outside, in a crawl space, cable box, etc... This is the one you need to change. Leave the input labeled "sat" alone. Change the in/out and VHF/UHF cables around. Now the satellite signal will be directed to the #2 location.

As I'm typing though, I just realized you said you had two tv #2's. That means you've got a splitter in that line somewhere and you cannot have a splitter in line to the receiver feeding the satellite signal, so you're going to have to remove it and and connect the line feeding the splitter to the correct line going to the new location.

You can only us a splitter coming off the VHF/UHF side of the diplexer, so hopefully your diplexer and splitter are close or you may end up running cable to that splitter for the new tv2.

Yes. Depending on what model HD receiver you have. A lot of the newer ones don't automatically come with the OTA module, you gotta fork out $30 for it, but it's still worth Yes it IMO. If it does have a place on back for an antenna input, then yes, hook up your antenna and scan those locals in!

Yes, the only thing you would have to do is address the remote (change the frequency) to match your current #2 remote. I'm sure you could call dish and buy one. It may be cheaper or easier to watch ebay or find a local retailer in your area that could sell you one.

I am using 6 remotes 1 infared and 5 RF or #2 remotes. I have HD in my main and masterbedroom off the HDMi and Componant. the rest are through the tv2 output. some HDtvs like the 720p or 1080i are great in Standard def. pictures looks good enough. I am not in dual mode unless wife wants to watch something I do not then I flip the switch to dual mode. Have the master bedroom also with tv2 commin in so I can be in main room watchin what I want and she can go to the masterbedroom and watch what she wants.
