Direct set up..need assistance

Hello..firat time poster..but my buddy is trying to set up his system at hunting camp....he has a H25-500 receiver....the inserter...the splitter.....cables ..and swm lnb on a slimline dish......but cant get nothing!!! What is he doing wrong......i believe he has all the settings correct but not sure..thats why im seeking help from the guys who know.....thanks in advance

There are a few things that could be wrong. Is the mast plumb? The power inserter has two ports. The swm port goes to the dish, the other goes to the H25. Make sure the connections are firm. What is he using for the settings, from the H25? Is the elevation setting using the red line on the back of the bracket? Are there any line of sight obstructions? The azimuth must be moved slowing to allow any changes to register, so patience is a must.

I learned the hard way. Can’t have any damage to the dish itself. Mine had the slightest, almost unnoticeable dent in the rim and was the reason I couldn’t get a signal.

For $7/month (can be added and canceled anytime), a Directv technician will come out and troubleshoot for you. Usually they want to come to the home address, however.

I’m happy to report that I have become quite good at setting up my satellite dish for tailgates. With my set up, I can key in on the satellite signal very quickly. Last home game of the season, I got a 775 error code. I checked all the coaxial connections for tightness. Still got 775. Then for reasons I’m not sure of, I flipped all the coaxials; connected opposite ends to various inputs. That worked! Lol. Thanks again everyone for all the help getting me started! It’s been a fun tailgate season. Go WolfPack!!!
