DirecTV discovers that intercept gear does not a lawsuit make

In the recent case of DirecTV v. Mike Tregory, a federal appellate court in Florida has held that DirecTv (DTV) does not have a private right to bring legal action under 18 U.S.C. section 2520(a) against people who possess devices used to intercept satellite transmission in violation of criminal statute 18 U.S.C. section 2512(1)(b).

Not for anything but what they did is almost like charging someone with murder simply because they own a gun and someone somewhere at some time was shot. Also, they were suing people that had legitimate smart card programmers and made no effort to differentiate between legitimate use and piracy. It was basically a witch hunt. This policy is one of the reasons I cancelled them. Voom is the other reason. If I wouldn't have gone to voom I would have switched to dish.
