Discovery Communications CEO David Zaslav on Monday touted the company's $14.6 billion deal to acqui

Discovery is buying Scripps Networks Interactive. That is a different company from the broadcast channels. SNI has HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, Cooking Channel, DIY and Great American Country in the US.

It all comes full circle for Travel Channel. I remember when Cooking Channel and DIY started out, they were what Food Network and HGTV used to be, before they turned into reality crap. Now Cooking Channel and DIY just show the same old junk the other two aired 3 or 4 years ago and oh yeah, stupid tiny houses that cost $50K until you want a pantry and toilet and then it gets jacked up $80K. While Viacom wins hands down the award for having a suite of channels that turned to garbage, Scripps is a close second in my book.
