DISH 1000.2 vs 1000.4 Feed Arm Length

I recently picked up a used dish from a friend. It is elliptical, black with the "DISH HD" logo on the front. It didn't come with an LNB. Since it's a large(r) reflector, I'm thinking of using it in the future to grab 118.7. I have the 500+ LNB on-hand, but it doesn't look like the screw holes are going to line up. The holes on the feed arm are perpendicular to the holes on the LNB (i.e. they don't line up.) I did some reading online, and it seems like these dishes can have different length support arms...? The reflector should be large enough to grab 118, but I can't attach my DP500+ LNB to it. Can someone please help me make some sense of this. What am I missing? Thanks.

That's not an International Dish, it's a standard 1000.2. You need a 1000+ Dish Kit, not a 1000.4, although this one shows the old style backing structure and LNBF, which you can use as a wing dish for the 118 connected to the input on a 1000.2 LNBF

I remember when we had to use that stupid 118.7 dish for our locals.

Our cost was $284 for the dish and dp44 switch

I installed a ton of them, I hated that setup. Usually paired with a 622/322...what a joke!

I finally got around to replacing the one I installed on my parent's place in 2007 a few months ago.

Thank you. So I'm assuming 1000+ is a bigger dish/reflector needed for that satellite? And depending on how I want to mount it, it'd be a good idea to use those metal braces some people have?

Yeah, the dish itself sure is clunky from what I can see. I've said this before, but it's a shame I can't wing out a 300 to 61.5 or 148 if I wanted to. Larger dish certainly takes away the convenience factor.

It's bigger, and heavier, which is why the mast for it comes with the support legs. I think it's like a 64 CM Dish, give or take. You can use a wing dish for any other SAT that dish still uses for TV programming (61, 72, 77, 110, 119, 129) but not the 118 because it's an FSS Sat and takes a different type of LNBF.

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you!

The dish on the picture is 1000.2, 118 sat usually goes with 500+ dish.

You can try the dish you have but the signal will be low.

Just remove the plastic bracket and drill holes for the 500+ LNB.
