I am wondering if anyone is using Dish 1000 Plus and what are your experiences with it? The E* CSR are very uninformed about "Plus" so I am just trying to collect some first hand knowledge.
Currently I have Dish 1000 and in order to get inter. channels need to be able to "see" 61.5/118 or 148 (118 works with Plus).

An idea of having only one dish looks great to me but at the same time I not sure how good of the signal you can get with it (think 129 issue with 1000) and if maybe the second dedicated dish is better.

Finally how you actually can get 1000 Plus? Once I called to inquire about International channel and was told about second dish, when I asked about 1000 Plus they told me that is done at the discretion of installer?!

Thanks.

You will need a Plus dish to see 118.7. With the 500 Plus you get 110/119. Just like a 500, + 118.7. The 1000 Plus adds 129.

Option 1: Dish 500+ and 2nd dish for 61.5
Option 2: Dish 1000+

Don't let the hype about 129 scare you. I have a little ol' Dish 1000 (no plus) and
really have no complaints but I am out west. The 1000+ is bigger and likely does an even better job with 129. Only if your area is really poor for the 129 then it looks like you would go w/ option 1.

Dish has pumped up the signal on 129. Much improved.

Thanks for your reply. I actually already have Dish 1000 (110/119/129) and have no issues with 129 personally so I was more asking about replacing Dish 1000 with Dish 1000 Plus or adding additional dish (i.e. Dish 500) to my existing setup.

I am curious for this following. I am currently using the D1000 (not +) to receive 129 ONLY

How much better off would I be by using a D1000+ or a winegard 76cm dish, or even a D500?

Again I am using this dish to bring in 129 ONLY

Does anyone have the gain statistics on D1000+ and the D1000

Is it even possible to mount a single DP Dual lnb to the dish 1000+?

If your Internationals are on 61.5 and you do not need 118.7 the easy solution is to add 2nd dish. Run the cable to the LNB IN port on your DPP Twin in lieu of the 129.

On the other hand, I belive Internationals are slowly migrating to 118.7. I also belive that others would attest that the 1000+ is not worse than a 1000 where 129 is of concern.

Downside to a Plus dish: External switch required.

Good luck with you decision.

My understanding is that you can use 500 or 1000 as your secondary dish w/o any issues or big difference. As listed 1000 Plus is somewhat larger than 500/1000 so if your signal on 129 is very weak it may help some but I would not expect very huge difference.

Thanks Dish VIP. When looking at International channels I also have noticed that 118.7 is becoming more used. The channel I was looking at (EuroNews) comes on all 3 "other" satelites (61.5/118.7/148) but english/german combo is on 118.7.

I put in a 1000+ dish and I have to say I am very happy with it. I get much better signal on 129 than I got with a dedicated dish on 129. I do not use the 118.7 except to really peak the dish. I currently have 61.5/110/119/129. The 1000+ works like a champ.

were you using the D1000 or D500 for 129 alone or d1000 for 110/119/129

is the D1000+ now getting 110/119/129 or just 129

mike123abc brings up a good point. There are markets where you must see 129 to get locals, including HD and SD. In such markets using 61.5 in lieu of 129 may not be an option as you will need both like mike.

My market used to be (well it still is) on 121, now it is also on 129. So, I used the 119 LNB on my SD121 (since I figured it was the closest to the focal point of 121) for 129. It gave a good signal, ranging from 60-85. The 1000+ I now use for 110/119 and 129.

Right now:

TP1 83
TP2 88
TP4 93
TP5 85
TP6 84
TP7 88
TP8 91
TP9 92
TP10 95
TP11 84
TP12 93
TP13 95
TP16 87
TP17 87
TP18 83
TP19 98!!!!!!
TP21 83
TP22 87
TP23 88
TP27 91
TP30 96!
TP31 103!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RP32 83

This is using a DPP44 with separator into a 622 in Wichita Falls, TX. Note it is heavy overcast, but not raining yet.

I never got readings over 85 before, Now all above 80, with 1 over 100...

Those numbers were for 129, 110/119 numbers are much better, all on same dish.

119 range 103-112 most around 109
110 a bit weaker range 93-110, most seem to be clustered around 101 in strength.

Your right about the CSR's being uninformed about the plus dishes. I placed my order today and was told by the CSR that I would be getting two dishes installed to receive the four satellites (110, 118.7, 119, and 129) that I need. She said that one would be a 1000+ but it only received 3 satellites and that the + meant that a second dish would be installed. I'm hoping that when the installer gets here I can convince him(her) that the + means an additional LNBF and a switch.

Good luck in trying to convince installer :)
Please do note that Dish 1000 and Dish 1000 Plus may look similar but are different. Plus is larger and has 4 LNBs not interchangable with 3 LNBs from regular 1000 not to mention that Plus needs DPP44 switch which runs around $199.00 so not so cheap for them to run around and offer to install it.

I originally asked my question "Plus vs. 1000 w/second dish" just to find out if anyone has Plus and how they like it and how they got it.
I was told that second dish would run me $59.95 (with 12 month E* sub.) but was not able to find anything about Plus.

fish, there are no Dish 100 plus , I think that you forgot to add one more zero...there is only Dish 1000 plus :)

...and to answer your question...that is not true, Dish 500 Plus is different from Dish 1000 Plus. They are of same size but 500 Plus can only get signal from three orbital locations 110,118.7,119 vs. 1000 Plus which can get four 110,118.7,119,129.

The only difference between a 500+ and a 1000+ is if you add the bracket and DP Dual LNBF for 129 to a 500+, it becomes a 1000+. Otherwise they are identical.

So far the D-1000+ is a good antenna. Sig strengths are superior to the D-1000. In fact, the additoonal time to install a D1000+ more than makes up for the hassles witht he D-1000...In fact this market we no longer install D1000 because HD locals are to be launched very soon and those chs are coming off the 118.7 sat...
The install of a D-1000+ in regard to international channels is a bit different..Not all int'l services are available from the 118.7 bird....Before you order, check with dish and ask about the specific int'l pack you wish to sub to...Ask which satallite orbital slot the desired channels are x-mitted from....And of course ask what type Dish antenna you would be getting...
