Dish 1000+ Pole

The Dish 500+ and Dish 1000+ are identical except for the addition of a small bracket and an extra DP LNBF for Sat 129.

According to Dish Network's web sites, the + dishes are the same as the regular Dish 500. Here are the links:

Dish 500/500+ = http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/TechPortal/content/tech/techequiDish500.shtml
Dish 1000/1000+ = http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/TechPortal/content/tech/techequiDish-1000.shtml
SuperDish 105/121 = http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/TechPortal/content/tech/techequiSuperdish.shtml

According to the Dish Store, the mast for the + dishes are the same as the Dish 500. http://www.dishstore.net/product_info.php?cPath=69&products_id=286

It looks like the Dish 1000.2 recently started to be shipped, but I don't have a website for it.

I believe the Dish 1000.2 has a longer mast, but the diameter is the same as the Dish 1000.

Edit: The SuperDish 105 & 121 each have 2 types:
- Type I uses a 2" mast
- Type II uses a 2 3/8" mast

Guess you are thinking about changing your dishes since New Orleans SD locals were moved from Sat 121 to a spotbeam on Sat 110.

It looks like the Dish 1000.2 has started to ship. Hopefully in the near future, Dish will start shipping the "Repoint Kit" for the SuperDish which will convert it from 119/110/121 to 119/110/118.7/129.

I have a SuperDish 121 down in the swamps outside of NOLA, and one here in Denver that I would like to convert. Hopefully soon.

Thanks for the reply
I have been playing dish roulette, I originally had a 500, when New Orleans locals became available I installed a 121, when the locals went to spotbeam, I swapped back to the 500, plus Katrina did a number on the 121 and I had to keep adjusting it, now I am thinking of HD and a 211 and at this point I become confused, not sure if New Orleans will ever get HD locals, but would like to have what is available nationally, my concern is whether to point to 129 or 61.5, My neighbor just got Dish with a 211 they installed a 1000+ guessing that locals will go to 129.(per the installer)
I have always done all of my own installs and would like to keep it that way.
Am I correct in understanding that the same HD channels are on 129 & 61.5

I think last March, I was driving through the West Bank area and noticed a bunch of folks had SuperDish 121's in their front and/or side yards on short poles. Then a few weeks later Dish moved the locals to 110.

On New Orleans HD. There was a short discussion of that on another thread I read a few minutes ago at http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=84688. They were talking about DirecTV going to offer NOLA HD during 2007.

A couple of months back I believe Dish was offering either Free or Reduced Cost for OTA antenna for those who had HD and lived in certain area's, including NOLA. This gives the impression that Dish will not be adding NOLA HD stations anytime in the future - if at all.

National Programming:
Yes, all of the (national) HD Programming (not Local HD) that is on 61.5 is also available on 129. However 61.5 also has some SD "public information channels" like the "Pentagon Channel" which are not on 129.

CBS-HD East was on 61.5 and CBS-HD West was on 148, but I heard that Dish is no longer providing these 2 HD networks; either do to the DNS law suit or no longer any business benefit.

Provided you are not looking for some international programming and probably have a DP34 Switch....

I think I would use the Dish 500 for 119 and 110; and then get another Dish 500 with 1 DP Dual LNBF in the center for 61.5.

Ref your neighbor getting a Dish 1000+...
Did he need 118.7 for internationals? In not, it seems like he would have gotten a regular Dish 1000. Or maybe the Dish 1000.2, but I think they just started shipping them.

Thats a lot of info, thanks, I have a spare 500 lying around and the duel lnb from the superdish, I just need a dish 500 I adapter, thats the way I am going to go, with regards to my neighbors install, he did not want any international programing, and after reading your reply not sure why they set him up with the 129 sat instead of the
61.5, line of sight was not a problem, but thats what they put up,but I do remember speaking with the installer, since there is no longer a fence separating our yards and he did say that the NO locals if they happened would be on 129, how he knows is anybody's guess

Thanks
Bob

The I-bracket runs about $5. I don't know who in that area may have one or not. If you have to order one and they are going to charge you an arm and a leg to ship it, then go ahead and use the Dish 500 Y-Bracket that comes with it.

Just put the DP Dual LNBF from the SD-121 in either the right (110) side or the left (119) side. Set the Skew to 90 (which = 0 degrees left/right), set the Elevation to whatever the Point Dish screen shows for a Dish 300 at your Zip Code for 61.5.
Find the bird, adjust Azimuth, then adjust Elevation, maybe adjust Azimuth one more time, and call it quits.

PS - Somewhere on this forum, someone mentioned that one of the NOLA stations were no longer transmitting in DT since Katrina visited, just their old analog signal. I'm not sure, but I'm thinking it was Channel 6 WDSU-DT. (?)
