Dish 40.0 remote and volume

I have the Hopper and on one of my TV's I hooked up my old stereo. I couldn't find the codes to program it in Aux Mode, but I was able to learn the codes successfully. However, when I press the volume buttons, it stills default to my TV volume instead of the Aux (Stereo) volume even though I changed the appropriate settings in the Hopper's "Remote Manager" menu.

Is there like a volume lock or something on this remote? (and yes, I saw the "limited mode" setting and it is disabled at the moment)
