I have been installing Dishnetwork for about a year now and I have noticed some interesting things. First that the elevation numbers that are shown on the recievers are 10 degrees off. when i have attempted to sight dish 500's at 135skew, 41el, and 235az i get nothing. if i aim 10 degrees higher, voila. also i have noticed that with a 311 i get 125 sig strength on 119 and 112 sig on 110. on a 322 or 522 or 625 i get 112 sig on 119 and around 98 sig on 110. is the 311 more sensitive or does it have to do with the dual tuner of 322's etc.? if anyone here can tell me the absolute best numbers for south florida alignment i would appreciate it. allen in tampa, fl GO BUCS

It's always good to post the transponders you are using to read the signal strength. Use transponders 11 and 12. A signal of 125 is usually from a Spotbeam.

i am in tampa and when i set my dish up using the receiver, i had no problem. given that was over a year ago, i don't know if they changed their settings. would not surprise me.

wow, i have been installing these things for 3 years and i have never seen a dish with markings on it 10 degrees off...
unless your mast isn't plumb at all

Some of the early Dish500's made in and 1999 and 2000 had a 5-10 degree elevation error.
