Dish 500/Dish 1000

On the these two dishes what are they able to receive?

Dish 500 from what range ie 61.5 to ??, And how many sats?
Dish 1000 from what range ie 61.5 to ??, and how many sats?

Is there any dish bigger then the dish 1000? like a Dish 2000 something like that and if dso what iis it able to do?

The Dish 500 is designed to capture signals from 110W and 119W.

The Dish 1000 and 1000.2 are designed for 110W, 119W and 129W.

The Dish 1000.4 is designed to grab 61.5W, 72.7W and 77W.

The "Plus" dishes add 118.7W to their respective lists.


The Dish 500 is often used to go after individual satelltes (wings) like 61.5W and 148W.

The typical Dishes that Dish Network uses are:
500 (110, 119, or single orbitals 61.5, 72.7, 77, 110, 119, 129, 148)
1000/1000.2 (110, 119, 129)
1000.4 (61.5, 72.7, 77)
500+ (110, 119, 118.7)
1000+ (same as 500+ but adds 129)
The above is not a representation of all the Dishes you could use, only the typical Dishes that an installer may have.

It all depends on what kind of programming you want, what kind of equipment you have, and where you live. This will determine the Dish you need.

I was told by two installers the wing dish (1000, 1000.2) will not work in South Florida. Have to use two 500s to capture all the birds. So it might vary a little by location.

Well I'm in Ottawa Canada and presently have two ex Bell TV Dishes pointed at 110 & 119 but I'm thinking of upgrading to HD. Now grant you from my location I'm not sure what I can get on HD, but I do know 61.5 is there HD sat as to what I can get from there I'm not sure.

In any case if I do up grade a sat installer will do the install?

At present I have the largest SD package available the $99 US something like that the everything package.

It doesn't vary at all. The Dish 1000 and 1000.2 were never designed for Florida. That's why some call them the "Western Arc" dishes. Florida (the southern part anyway) needs to see 61.5W for HD and has always used a different setup for HD.

True, but that changed with the launch of Ciel-2. West Palm has been uplinked and I think we'll be seeing more Florida cities on 129. The CONUS maps of Ciel-2 show the signal almost reaching Cuba. Further, I personally know of people in Miami with signal strengths in the 80s for 129.
