Dish 500 only grabbing 110...how to get it to pull down 119

So I have a typical EA setup along with a 500 grabbing 110 (to get my SD locals).

So of course the installer only set it up to grab 110 because that was all I needed. But of course I am a greedy satellite subscriber and I am looking to get AAD Distant Networks NY/SF CBS and FOX for the NFL season.

However those I believe come in on 119.

So what do I need to activate 119
? Do I need to buy a LNB? Or does a dish 500 typically already have all that stuff and therefore all I would need to do is plug some coax into it?

Thanks for all your help! I am a techie just breaking into the wonderful world of satellite potential and I love this forum!

Your Dish 500 would need a twin LNB to pick up both 110 and 119. Chances are, the installer only used a dual lnb to pickup only the 110W position. The AAD HDs are on 110W. You must be looking for the AAD SDs. As Garys pointed out you cannot subscribe to both locals for your area and AAD distants.

uh yeah you can :)
Lots of folks on here with both locals & AAD.

The issue at hand is the Eastern Arc dish has 3 satellites already (61.5/72/77) and you can only add one more satellite to the setup which was done with 110.

A EA dish wont be able to see both 110 & 119 as the switch built into the EA dish can only handle 4 satellite slots

Didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

Most folks in my area are on the Western Arc since our locals are on 110 SD and 129 HD. They put me on EA because it was easier to get LOS but toward the end of my install the technician said getting 129 would have been possible but we would have had to put the dish about 150 feet or so away from my house.

Suddenly I care more now because football season is starting and after doing some tests with a neighbors Western Arc setup I discovered that I would be able to obtain Erie, PA locals (locked on to 129 / transponder 8 / spotbeam 25 with a solid 32% signal) which means I should be able to get them (and they cover all Buffalo Bills football games).

Do you think the 100-150 ft distance would impact that 32% signal that my neighbor was getting significantly? If so, is there a way to offset that with an amp or something?

I wonder if there is anyway I can convince Dish to hook me up with a 129 dish/install if I tell them I am paying for my Indy locals in HD but am only receiving them in SD with my EA Dish + 500 (for 110 SAT) currently?

do you have a HD receiver?

If you do, then the tech should have installed a WA dish since your HD locals are only on 129. If you are SD only, then the setup you have is correct

722k receiver. The reason they did EA is because LOS was a bit more difficult with WA. They would have had to put the dish on a pole about 100 ft away from my house.
