Does anyone get their UPN local via SAT.

My son just noticed last nite that we dont have Smackdown.
I looked sure enough DISh doesnt have my local UPN station to go with all the reg networks.

Depends on where you are located.
When I had Minneapolis locals, we had UPN on there, but now that I have Duluth, MN locals, I don't (Dultuh's UPN is digital only)

Some areas don't have a UPN that is OTA, or is low powered. Technically, these don't qualify for must carry, so the satellite companies don't have to carry them (ask TNGTony about WBQC Cincinnati) :D

Detroit area gets both UPN and WB over the sat. while Pax is on 61.5

Here is the UPN locals situation on Dish:

You can see all the details for the rest of the Dish cities here. http://ekb.dbstalk.com/19
Notice how most of the stations not carried are low power or class A low power stations. See http://ekb.dbstalk.com/20 for "Must Carry" details.

Minneapolis WFTC 29

interesting note...WFTC stands for "We're Fox Twin Cities", yet they are UPN :) (Fox and UPN changed stations on 9/8/02)

lol

Anyway I still dont know why dish wont carry ours. we have lexington locals and there are 2 upns in lex. WBLU 62 and the digital one owned by wkyt. Owned by 2 different companies even. and 62 is full power i can pick it up via regular ant without problem so it hasnt been a problem fo rme to view it. theres jsut considerable ghosting and static.

I looked on tvradioworld.com, and WBLU is actually WBLU-LP..output power of 129KW (Full Powered is 5000KW)...since it has the dreaded LP at the end, technically it doenst qualify for must carry.

Hay Thanks Iceberg. Im gonna bookmark that site. That stinks but I can still watch it anyway... oh well.

If it didnt have the LP at the end, then technically they qualify.

I've seen 500KW stations (1/10th of the max) be carried on Dish.

That site is real good...some of the affiliation changes take a little bit to update, but its a real good sight :)

Tyler/Longview, TX does not have our local UPN on DISH.

That one Ive questioned because KCEB 54 is full power (5000KW) so it should qualify :)
Whats weird is there is Ch 58, which is KLPN-LP in the same town (Longview) which doesnt qualify

Note that you don't have to order the whole Supers pack if all you want is a UPN outlet. Each channel in the Supers pack is available for $1.50/month each. You get to choose between Boston's WSBK and New York's WWOR.

I will double check with them

We get Upn in Lubbock Texas, however we dont get the WB. My wife loves the WB so we had to get the superstations package which also has 3 upns so now I have 4 upns that show the same thing within an hour of each other

Here is the story according to DISH and the UPN operators (Fox 51). First of all, what I was told is that KLPN is no longer even broadcasting. It was the LP station in Longview while the new full power KCEB was being built. When KCEB came online, KLPN was shut off a couple of months later. From what I can tell, neither Longview cable company is carrying the KLPN signal. (A search for KLPN on the FCC no longer shows an active registration.) They couldn't tell me what signal DirecTV was actually using.

According to a DISH executive officer, who told me that she had the "correct" department research why it wasn't on, the station has never asked to be carried and the 75-day period in which a full-power station must request carriage has passed. She noted that they had "no plans to carry the station." According to Fox 51, they will try to "speed up getting our signal to DISH."
