Dish Anywhere app or site no longer streaming channels, now you need a hopper to stream them , is this a glitch or feature being phased out.

i noticed the Dish Anywhere app and site no longer has streaming on the channels that previously streamed without the need of the hopper DVR being connected, now every channel is streamed via hopper, this is a bad idea for when bad weather hits and you need the app to stream if you don't want to stream via your hopper.

is this a temporary thing possibly due to migration to a new interface or is this a permanent thing due to cost-cutting and or making people want to switch from Dish to SlingTV (also owned by Dish).

The program description now shows if it is Hopper Stream or Web Streaming instead of showing the Web Streaming icon in the channel name on the guide.

Yes, it does but ours now switches to getting its signal from our Hopper, as if the expected streaming signal isn't there. The result is a less stable signal from the Hopper. Much more buffering and video player closing down, requiring a restart of the player.

This is sadden if true, one recent change I loved on Dish Anywhere was IF there stream option the was DEFUALT method used. For as long as I used Dish anywhere steaming from "hopper" option was anything but stable or good experience more time then not it was extremely slow to show decent picture providing it started in first place and skiping back and or forward in case of DVR was extremely laggy never mind constant buffer or out right stalling a slow 50/50mbit connection should be more then enough for the feed to be snappy and max quality , even with 1gbit up/down connection it terrible and that is regardless as to if I current in house which same network. if I out house and on road it just as bad if not worse. Dish Anywhere defaulting to Stream from web from everything that has streaming channel was best thing to happen to dish anywhere since it inception imo, short of viewing "DVR"

removal of stream icon in channel logo is heart breaking too cause they did similar stupid changes on hopper side of UI too why so why they "removed" the stream icon on channel logo is beyond me as that is about as stupid as them remove the "HD" icon to channel logo... ( I absolutely hated when they change on Hopper UI consider there still many SD channel that I know have HD versions but dish dont use them) IT IS alot easier to see if channel is HD or streaming via Icon on channel logo vs going into description. In both cause there plenty of room under the channel "logo" for HD and or Stream icons. Atlest they havent remove "stream" icon from channel logo for the channel that streaming "only". but seeing they remove HD icon from them I would not put it past them to remove that from channel icon too.

"HD" icon and "stream" icon need to stay on Channel Logo image it really pain ass to figure out what is what if one trying to make custom favorite list cause with out that. again again simply easier more convention if there icons are shown in the channel "logo".

It is almost like all UI developers use same idiots pushing same stupidity on all UI
