EchoStar Communications Corp.’s Dish Network direct-broadcast satellite service will launch local HD signals in Denver and 61 surrounding counties.

Denver-area Dish subscribers with any of the provider’s “DishHD” packages will now receive ABC channel 7 (KMGH), CBS channel 4 (KCNC) and Fox channel 31 (KDVR). NBC’s Denver-area affiliate, channel 9 (KUSA), is not yet available in HD.

The local channels will be available in 47 Colorado counties, nine Nebraska counties and six Wyoming counties.

Yesterday I emailed Mark Cornetta (KUSA General Manager) and asked why the delay getting KUSA on satellite in HD. This was his response:

"I can not comment or discuss this matter with you but we are hopeful to have our deal with Dish Network signed shortly."

I wonder what's going on between Dish and Gannet?
