Looks like we have some channel shuffling coming up...

FUEL is moving from 156 to 398
Ovation - OVATN is moving from 157 to 291
Current - CURNT Moving trom 196 to 294
Fox Soccer Plus - FSC+ is moving from 406 to 407.

The simulcast will end on September 7, when the original channels will be taken down.

On September 7, a slate will be placed on the original channels which will direct customers once more to the new channels.

There will be no changes to the packaging for these channels.

And what exactly is the point of this?

What exactly was the point of the moves a few weeks ago?

Curious to find out what the are going to put in those slots.

It doesn't sound like they're in much of a hurry to put anything in them, since Scott said that on September 7th a slate would be put on the old channels directing people to the new channels. Huh? As if people can't see the message in the program guide?

Looks to me like Dish is going for some kind of grouping among the 290 channels. Reelz & Epix 3 are already there and soon two new channels will join the crowd. Why not make it a five pack with the movie of SoapNet to the group?

Yup they are going to at the MLB Network just in time for the season to end... (Just kidding)

Although the movement of Fox Soccer Channel does open up room for it... so anything is possible.

One thing I have learned in my 10 years with DISH Network and dealing with Charlie and all the folks at DISH Network... NEVER SAY NEVER!

More like "Never expect to watch your favorite channel all the time"

Remember that, statistically, half the world is dumber than average. They have to do that to reduce the number of dumb people who call in asking about the channels that are 'no longer there'. You know it's gonna happen!

I "Think" the slates are for the min cable systems that use E's signal as head end..they dont get the program guide

But the channel is still there until the 7th. When stupid people (or inattentive people) tune to the regular channel and see the program there all is fine. They may not even glance at the EPG. They may not be able to READ! They may be visually impaired. When they tune in to their regular channel and it is gone, THEN they will look at the EPG. SOP for Dish has been to have 2 weeks of EPG announcement about the channel move. Two weeks of slate telling people the channel moved.

Example of STUPID/inattentive people from my personal work life: I used to work at an amusement park with a "skyride" (elevated cable cars that ran from one side to the other of the park). On windy days the ride could not be safely operated. We would put up a sign saying the ride was closed due to the wind. It was 5 feet tall by 3 feet wide with 8" lettering. Not subtle. We would have a staff member there to give people directions to the other side of the park (which I though was silly...just follow the 50' tall cable supports!) The number one question I would get standing behind a 5 foot sign saying "THIS RIDE IS CLOSED" was: "Is this ride closed?" The number three question after "Why" (Which was also on the sign) was: "When will the wind stop".

With Fuel and Ovation moving, do you think any new music channels could be coming Scott? Fuse should have never been removed from 158, but that still leaves at least 2 spots. After seeing some dated charts on what the programming costs are for certain channels to video providers, it seems like Dish could easily pad the music channel line-up without breaking the bank or my wallet.
