Are they using the original 16x9 aspect ratio or are they zooming in so it fit on a 4x3 sd signal?

On my locals they are just cutting off the sides. So, shows that used to be letterboxed on 4:3 now are full screen with the sides cut off.

Most of the networks have recently moved their logos over to be in the 4:3 area
