After dropping subscription with dish and switching to Dish Outdoors they told me to dispose of the 211z that they gave us for original pricelock package..Is this receiver still available to activate if needed or someone wants it?Not sure of their policy on their own equipment that they no longer want

You can check with dish and make sure they remove the equipment from your account. I am not sure how that works. Since it was a leased unit I kinda doubt it can be activated on another account. Those are nice boxes you may want to hang onto it.. You may need it again one day! :-)

The ViP211Za "nice" box? That's the first time I've seen a post here with that sentiment. Preference seems to be for the original 211.

Anyway, I read this as the tea leaves saying the entire ViP211 series is about to be toast. Phased out in favor of Wallys.

I'm sure this comes as a shock to many. Not!

PULL!

Sent from my iPad3 using the SatelliteGuys app! Only because can't get Tapatalk to work on such an old device. I'll shift to Chrome on this, too, eventually.

I still use my vip211k as it is a great package for a single guy, OTA tuner, outboard HDD with no fees. Hope they continue to activate the receiver. No internet option, but a Fire TV takes care of that for Dish Anywhere.

Hey there, Tvland1. I didn't see if you established if this receiver was 'Leased' or 'Purchased'. If the 211z is marked as 'Leased' instead of 'Purchased', then the receiver cannot be removed for the initial account it was setup on. If it is purchased, as was mentioned, you can get in contact with us, and we can remove it to either allow someone else to take ownership or keep it around for later use. -Caleb S

We have a pair of owned ViP 211 receivers we use on our Pay As You Go account. If Dish drops support for the 211/211k/211z, I guess replacing them with two Wally HD units is possible. Would we be able to use them with our current Dish Pro EA LNBf or would we need to replace it with an EA Hybrid LNBf? We don't have a switch in our hookup (just what's in the LNBf) so that should keep it simple.

We have EHDs as well, so hopefully any programs we might have on them would be readable on the Wallys.

The 211Z was a leased receiver..Called Dish and cancelled the account. Was told by CSR to dispose of the 211Z..I own a 222 and 211k that I started Dish Outdoors account with..I just didn't know that if someone needed a receiver if the leased 211Z that Dish no longer wants is considered " Not activate able" since its to be dispose of..Thanks

Hello Foxbat. While we don't have any future announced plans of dropping support of the 211 series receiver to our RV users, if you were interested to see what it would take to use Wallys instead, I would be happy to help! For a two Wally setup, you would suggest to replace your current LNBf with a EA Hybrid LNBf; however, it should work with either.

Gotcha. Sadly, this would make it so that receiver wouldn't be able to be added to another account. -Caleb S
