At Team Summit they had announced that the Air TV+ DVR, which would be a 4 tuner unit, would be available in November. But new product launch dates have a tendency to slide later.

Exactly, what Scott described during the Team Summit coverage was a 4-tuner OTA AirTV branded DVR with a built-in hard drive, not a stand alone 4-tuner dongle that could be used with a Hopper. Think something like a Tivo Bolt OTA.

Fine. Call it the "Hopper 4". :D I don't really care whether it's internal or external.

That would be AWESOME. Getting PTAT without the need of paying for locals on the satellite.would be a huge deal!

I would imagine since they would do it over the air, means all their rules about PTAT delays would be out the window since those channels are not covered over their satellite contracts.

Imagine the possibilities. :D

Yes, OTA PTAT would be super nice. It has been posted that next day AutoHop OTA PTAT locals is working too without the DISH Satellite locals. I am working on rearranging my OTA locals between my two Hopper 3s and then give the wife some OJT. I will be canceling the Sat Locals in a couple of days.

At Team Summit Dish announced a 4 Tuner for their Air TV. People are speculating that the 4 Tuner for the Air TV could possibly work on the Hopper receivers since the dual Air TV tuner works on the Hopper receivers. Personally, I don't believe that it will work on the Dish Hopper receivers. We will have to wait and see once it is released. I believe that the single Air TV tuner does not work on the Hopper receivers but the dual tuner does work.

Add the Air Tv app to the hopper and you could use the air tv with the hopper. DISH makes both the hopper and the Air tv boxes, shouldn't be that hard of a stretch to come up with something that works together.

Can the USB port handle it though? That is the question.

We know the USB ports can handle a dual tuner adapter and an EHD, so there's a chance it would handle two duals anyway. My H2 handles a single tuner adapter and a USB powered EHD ok.

USB 2.0 is 480 Mbps. ATSC is maximum of ~19 Mbps, and since most US channels are ginsued into 3-8 streams, a sub-channel would be even less than that. So even four 19 Mbps streams should be able to be sent over USB.
