All excited to watch the Hawks/Rams Game in 4K in my Home Theater w/JVC NX7 4K projector & 125" screen. We watched the 1st quarter, then I change to local HD channel to show wife the difference in PQ, then when I change back to the 4K channel, I get this stupid HDCP message.:mad::mad:

I have more or less state of the art equipment, Marantz AV7705 prepro, JVC NX7 projector. All HDMI cables (Hopper to Prepro/Prepro to Projector) are well respected & certified 4K 4:4:4 cables. There are no problems with any of my other 4K sources.

I tried hard resetting everything, it worked for about 15 seconds afterwards, then the message again. I have worked in the industry for 20 years and been an audiophile for nearly 40. Everything is hooked up properly.

I was ready to brag about the 4K on Dish on FB, guess I won't be doing that.

Sorry, I'm just grumpy (And it doesn't help the Hawks are losing).

Might be hdmi cable issue
No, I tried multiple cables, none of which have trouble with other 4K sources. They are the most "current" HDMI/HDCP versions. No switches, Marantz Prepro handles all the switching. It is a $2,300 preamp and one of the best you can buy, and like I said, the Hopper is the only component that has ever had an issue in the system.

Is there another port on the hopper you can try?

This has been an ongoing issue that been discussed here for a while. A quick fix was found. When you get that pop up press the channel down button on your remote once and the picture will come right back up and will OK for the rest of the game.

That worked! Thank you very much. I did have to hit channel down about 2 or 3 times before it worked.

So I reiterate my comment. Dish! Get your 4K SH*T together.

(I knew it wasn't my other equipment)

I could not get the channel down trick to work. All it did was to actually change the channel. I tried many times with the same result.

This problem has been posted here for nearly a month and comments like this are genuinely unhelpful.
Comments like this are also unhelpful when the poster was just trying to help.

Hdmi is a good starting point. It may or may not be the problem, but it’s a good first check step.
No problem with mentioning it as a start off point, one that some may simply overlook.

Ok, I bit the bullet again and bought two of the highest rated 8K, 48Gbps cables I could get. And they are not all that expansive either. Even though I only needed 3 ft from the Hopper to the Denon, these only come in two lengths, 6.5 and 10 feet. I replaced both from the Hopper to the Denon and then from the Denon Master HDMI out to the input eARC on my Sony A9G.

Watching BlueJays/Bulldogs basketball right now, perfect picture. No complaining about the receiver has detected....

So if you don't want to bother with the channel down bypass (not sure if it also bypasses the full 4K experience, I swear this is clearer than when I watched the NFL games) you can spend about $40 bucks and get the right cables. I needed 10 feet to get from the Denon to the TV, but if yours is closer two 6.5 footers would do it. Remember, you need to replace the entire transfer path. Hopper to your AVR, AVR to the TV.

Just an FYI,

bookworm370, did your cables come with the HDMI Ultra HD certification code?

This figures, earlier this year I bought a bunch of HDMI cables that were supposed to be good for 4K signals, and the one I installed between my Hopper 3 and LG C8 OLED generates the warning.

Did Charlie buy stock in the Ultra High Speed HD cable companies? ;)

An alternative that is working great for me for 4K is the Monoprice model 3992. Includes ferrite cores. Connecting H3 to 4K TV and Denon AVR to 4K TV. Never saw any warning message or other issues with 4K with these cables. About $5. Someone has a listing for a 7-pack for $20 on the eBay.

Ok this error is now coming up on me from a recording that is prob a year or more old off an External HDD to my Hopper3. Obviously channel down or up is pointless since it kicks me out of the HDD. Not a Cable problem this is clearly a software issue.
I'm wondering if any official word has been given towards this by Dish or do I need to call and raise hell? Fix it or offer me discounts...doesn't matter to me.

Hmm, I watched the second half of the SJU/UConn game this afternoon on 540. No HDCP error and I'm still on U939 on my H3. I had received the error recently though.....
