Dish Hd

I have been a long time Dish subscriber. I like Dish services and products. Lets look at Dish over the last year.
How much Hd programming have they added? I like Dish for their Hd channels. They are behind right now.

If you look at Charter Spectrum they have at least 20-30 more channels than Dish. Alot of people are talking 4K, which I myself would like to see also. Right now though Dish needs to do some catching up on the HD front first.
I know that this probably will require launching of more satellites, or moving some channels to MPEG 4 from Mpeg 2.

Wonder if we will get any more HD from DISH as a Christmas present?

Price increases are coming next month to Dish, and eventually all of the other providers as well.

But are they channels worth watching? If they are maybe you should switch, why do you think DISH is discontinuing old receivers so they can switch to more favorable compression technology?

Looks like DISH carries some of those only in SD, many of them they don't carry at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but one that stood out was CSPAN3. Dish not DTV offer that channel, right?

No. The cable companies own that channel and will not permit satellite companies from carrying it.

People throw things around in a post but you backed it up. Some of those may be coming such as the Showtime channels. To nitpick many of those movie channels or any "West channels" add no more actual movies or choices other than showing at a later time, something a DVR takes care of. It would be in my opinion a waste of spectrum space. But there are some legitimate channels DISH does not have.
Charter is the Cable company in my area, (Eastern Ct) and they don't carry all those, but many they do. But remember there is literally a price to be paid. Charter cost excessively more than DISH does for me. Direct costs $15 more in a direct comparison Charter approx $22 more, with yes more channels and crapola equipment.
