We have Dish NW in our RV. I was wondering is there a perferred sequence for the following. I find the satelite with the finder, trying to get the max signal strength. My specific question is should I do a system reset with the power button first, then the check switch test?

With regards to asmituh and elevation. What seems to work for me is to max the signal with the azimuth, then fine tune with elevation. What I see many times is once I get the best signal a little week up with the elevation seems to improve my signal strength.

Could I do things better?

thanks!

No need to do a reset before/after a check switch, but doesn't hurt either. Your method of tuning the dish is how I did it installing.

Only thing better would be a automated in-tracking dish.

Nope... you're doing it how I do it everyday... with the exception of the use of a Super Sat Buddy :)

You could also play around with the skew after you adjust azimuth and elevation to even out your signals a bit on a multi-satellite system... but probably completely unnecessary.
