Is this a worth while service even if it's free? How can I find out what is available? Are there any good, free moves, in HD? How about past TV episodes, the popular ones...? I was not impressed with the offerings of DIRECT TV There, if you filter out SD and $$, you get a choice of maybe 8 movies.

The only thing of value I've found is the ability to program remotely over the internet. Haven't seen anything else free that's worth the time - it's really slow.

It is getting better and better. I've actually seen some good free movies on my 922 lately.

I do not think you need to have a network connection to check out Sling. Log onto Dish Online and select "Remote Access." Sling has a much better guide than Dish. There is a lot of VOD to download. A lot in HD and much of it is free.

As for speed, I have 722 with a TrendNet TEW-647GA wireless N gaming adapter linked to a 300mbs N Router on 20gbs Fiber to the Home internet connection, and it downloads at 3-3.5gbs. Pretty fast IMHO.

The Gaming Adapter was $30 delivered. The Router (refurb) was about the same price. If you do not have the equipment already, do not hesitate to by refurb networking equipment. The reason it was returned was because of user error. It takes newbies a while to set up a secure wireless network.

Hint: buy equipment with "WPS" - it provides push button set up.

I have downloaded HD episodes of very recent TV shows I missed of the channel changed scheduling at the last minute. It has been a great service when in need. Tons of movies, mostly SD and a fair number of TV show, mostly SD. The problem is with how it is organized. Instead of looking up content according to channel, it is organized by title of the show. So, there is HGTV, Speed, History, Travel Channel, Food now Cooking, MTV, and more all mixed together by title of show. Good luck.
