I was just wondering if I can use a dish pro 500 with a quad lnbf to work with my 722 box? I really dont care about hd this is just going to be a dish that I use when I go camping. Also if this will work do I just look for the 119 sat and do a check switch and my receiver should work? Also can i just run coax from dish straight to receiver? Thank You

Your post caught my attention, cocomike, as I found it interesting. Here are the step-by-step instructions to help you set it up. This should be very useful:

how to setup your basic dish pro 500 dish/quad/dish pro plus

the most common dish/lnb is the dish 500 with the dish pro TWIN or QUAD (or dish pro plus) TWIN lnb.

this lnb is made to receive signals from 2 satellite locations on one dish.
119W and 110W DN................OR 91W AND 82W BEV

if your lnb does not look like this, than this guide is not for you.

the dish pro and dish pro plus lnbs are very easy to recognize.

they have the DP or DP PLUS written on them.(if they do not,its a legacy twin/quad andthese settings will NOT work)

as you can see, they are a fat looking lnb with 2 eyes.

this is really 2 lnb built in one case.these lnbs have a built in diseqc.

1 port either the 119 or the 110 port can be used of the dp(dish pro) lnb.

simply bring one line from either port and hook it directly into the lnb in port

of your stb (receiver/set top box) with NO splitters or switches.
(unless you have other lnbs to hook up etc.)

the QUAD:
same as the dish pro TWIN just it has 4 outputs ports for up to 4 receivers

hooked the same way.1 line from each port to each receiver.

the dish pro+ (plus):
same as the dp as far as settings go,but with a 3rd port lnb "in".

each port can be used like this to 2 receivers.so they work completely independently of each other.
for example port 119 to one receiver.and port 110 to the second.
simple and no switch needed.(dish pro/dish pro plus/for the quad you can do this for all 4 ports)

your settings in the receiver will need to be:

(may vary slightly in terms of your stb.pick the closest option that sounds very close)

lnb power ON (if you have this option)

lnb type: OCS-DP (or dish pro)

diseqc port for echo 7 (119) will need to be #1

diseqc port for echo 8.10 (110) will need to be #2

22K: Off (for both birds)

LNB FREQ: 11250 (for both birds)

LEGACY SW: NONE (for both birds)

then you will do a SAT scan for both of these birds (satellites)

Hope that helps!

Mike, that was very generic information and if I didn't know my way around installs better than that, it would be confusing. Regarding the original question, hifi was right, and use ports 1 and 2.
