I called Dish today to find out what was involved in getting our dish re-installed on the roof. We're getting a new roof in a week or so and I'm pretty sure the roofer won't re-install it:) The person I spoke with told me that I would be charged a $140 fee for the service. I asked about Dish Protect which I remembered from the past. At first she told me that DP wouldn't cover that but then said the only way to find out was to add DP to my account and then try to charge the fee.

Does anyone know if DP covers dish remounts? If so how far in advance do I need to add it and how long should it stay on my account before deleting it? I know that I can add and delete it online so I won't be calling cust. svc. to do it.

I had DP and didn't pay anything when Dish moved my wall mount to a pole mount about a month ago.

Typical rule of thumb:
  • If an onsite technician determines your dish needs to be relocated due to a satellite issue, such as NLOS in its current location, it is covered.
  • If you are proactively requesting for your dish to be relocated, due to a roof remodel or aesthetic reason, there is a fee.

And please don't let the roofers do it

I had a new roof installed a year ago and yes, I had to pay Dish a service call to come out and remount my dish on my new roof. I do not have DP.

BUT, my roofer told me they would pay for this as it is covered under my new roof contract. So, all I had to do was first pay Dish out of pocket to come out and remount it, then submit the payed bill to my roofing contractor. Within 3 days, I received a check for the total amount I payed Dish.

So, you may want to check with your roof contractor.

Roofers say a lot of things to get the job, but in my experience they don't come through on the re-install after the roof is finished. My parents lost their ota antenna on the old DISH tripod install after they had their roof replaced. They kept saying they would put it back and the last day it was sitting on the ground by the side of the house and they never came back and kept saying they would try to get back to them to do it when they didn't have a job going on. So my dad just said F it and went with You tube TV instead and I have an extra antenna sitting in my shed now. He doesn't even want to do a eave install.
