Dish Receiver Source Code

Just downloaded the complete linux code off the Dish site including the kernel source.

Of what conceivable benefit does it avail Dish to place their receiver source code in the hands of an aged hacker such as myself? I'm sure there's a reason for the source being on-line, however it puzzles me.

Perhaps they figure I can do a better job with it than they have. :)

They are required by law to do it since it is all GPL code. It is missing all of the custom programs they have written themselves, so you can't build a 622 with it.

So I guess I cannot switch myself to platinum or trouble shoot the reported periodic lockups. Oh well, I'll look it over anyhow. Thanks, Scott.
