Dish Remote Access / Sling

I can't access my sling box from work. Every time I launch sling player it says "Slingplayer can't connect to sling services, so some features ma be limited. You can still use slingplayer within your home network." So basically it can't find the internet from my work which sucks cause I am on the net all day long at work. I guess they just block it some how.

Unless your employer is totally irresponsible, they likely don't allow all types of outgoing traffic. You need to find out which destination ports are allowed, and use one of those to get to your Slingbox. For instance, my employer only allows outgoing traffic to ports 80(http) and 443(https), and even then, it filters some sites (patent web sites, P2P (Bittorrent) sites, and sites hosting spyware/viruses are blocked). I use port 443, and configured my Slingbox and firewall to open those ports, and I can get at my Slingbox from work no problem.

Tech support told me to try port 80. That the plain old http port that you are using to view this site, so no help there. Perhaps your work is blocking the sling site. Maybe tech support at sling could help. Try SlingMedia 1-877-467-5464.

It does not appear that the remote access feature allows me to view digital subchannels I can record via the OTA tuner in my 722. Am I missing something?

To do that do I have to configure that on my Slingbox at home or can I do that on my slingplayer at work?
