i record "Chelsea Lately" every night around 1AM. I watched last night's episode. There was an ad for the Fresh channel along with an option to hit press "Select now" to order. I'm no prude. However, I thought that was a bit inappropriate. Oy!

at least they arent near as explecit as the "girls gone wild" commercials. i do agree though that their should be a way to block them. if you have your adult channels locked out, then it should filter out those commercials as well. nothing like your teenage son seeing the commercial. like a 14 year old boy wouldnt press select right away.

Innappropriate would be showing that on Nickelodeon at 3pm, E! at 1am makes a lot more sense.

1 am on E!. The commercial does not show any nudity. It does not have any foul words spoken in it. If you have a 14 year old boy that would be up at that hour to order it you should have your purchase locks on and your content filter set. I just don't see a problem with it at all.

When I was 14, by 1 AM I had "taken care of the kid" a dozen times or so and was in a nice, peaceful sleep. And those commercials must not be that loud because I have never fallen asleep and been awaken by, "BILLY MAYS HERE FOR THE PORN CHANNEL!"

Jesus, man. Thanks for the thought. :)

I was going to come in and say I don't see anything wrong with those commercials, but I don't know about using the "select now" thing. Just tell them what channel to go to and they'll do it if they want. Too much potential there to accidentally order. Although, I'm sure you have to go through a couple of steps.

And that's not because it's porn...I don't think they should do that for ANY PPV.

But anyway, the commercial itself? Nothing wrong with them.

I think this is bad, period. Although teenage boys should not be up that late, some are. I can remember when I was a young teen, we had one of those big dishes. I used to enjoy surfing the hundreds of channels before anything was scrambled. One night I found the playboy channel (was MUCH milder in those days) and then American XXXtasy (scrambled at night, but full-on free xx action during the day). My dad caught me watching Playboy one night (probably after 1am) and bought a lock-out devise that required a physical key, but I was more tech-savy that he was and figured out how to "fine-tune" the dish and watch those channels anyway.

My point here is that these commercials should not be shown on non-adult channels. That way, if you have adult locked, no one will "accidentally" be exposed to them.

So, what you're saying is that teenage boys today, should not do what you did as a teenager????????????????

I remember getting up, sneaking down to the basement TV, tuning it to channel 4, pushing the button on top of the TV, and praying to catch a glimpse of at least side boob on HBO! Later on, I remember tuning to scrambled Cinemax and hoping the lines weren't wavy and you could tell what was going on. It's normal for teenagers to explore sexuality. There's nothing wrong with it. You'll see more action on Days of Our Lives than you will on a late night TV commercial (GGW being the worst).

menu 6-1-6 will allow you turn off the "press select" options on the interactive commercials. but any teenage boy will find some kinda of polishing agent for his rocket if he cant find it on the tv. i remember my mom opening up the jc pennys catalog and finding all the pages of the womens undies section missing. they all turned up in my little brothers room.

I've noticed, in general, channels are beginning to accept almost any advertising at all. Sign of the economic times, I guess. It's almost painful to watch TV after 8pm with some of these ads. ;o)

My biggest ad pet peeve is our local channel that shows the simpsons at 6pm. For whatever reason, they have to show every single horror movie ad during it.
