Dish still replacing 811's with 811's

My 811 died Thursday afternoon sometime...It was slaved to a Replay box. I messed with yesterday then unplugged, plugged back in today and tried everything then called tech support. The tech asked me the typical questions then told be he would replace, I asked if the replacement would be a 211 or another 811, he said and 811. I would have to lease to get a 211 as a replacement, I told him no thanks, I own my stuff RMA coming in soon...

Has Dish ever "upgraded" people's receivers when they replace them ?? The 811 isn't that old that they won't have refurb'd units available.

I wonder what would happen for a customer who's paying the monthly "protection" fee and owns a 3000 receiver ?? What would they get ?? I'd guess Dish doesn't have anything that old around....

If you had a 3000 that died, they'd probably replace it with either a 2800/3800 or maybe a 301/311

I have had 921's replaced with 942's

I have heard of 6000's replaced with 811's

At this time I don't think they are replacing MPEG2 with MPEG4 Equipment unless they are completly out of MPEG2 receivers./

Yeah... this 811 Replaced my 6000u last September...funny thing is I have been thinking of getting a 211 to replace the 811, but I want to own, not lease... (just one of my quirks)

Btw...I had the tech activate my 501 and kill the dead horse ( 811) It's been awhile since I have played with it and surprisingly the PQ seems better on the SD channels on my 27" Samsung than the 811...

They must have a ton of 811s if they are planing on redeploying them as SD boxes.

Must have... I would have thought being so how they are converting them to 381's, they would send me a 211...

It is much cheaper for them to ship you an 811 that was traded in on a new receiver than to ship you a new 211.

The fact that they are rebranding it is a good indicator that they have a lot of them in stock.

Yup... this 811 will be short lived probably as having the 622 and the Mpeg4 programs spoils me when I watch my 921 and the dead 811... (not to mention when I watch my D* HD receivers... )
