Dish Store Closed

For a retailer Dish pays more & quicker than Directv, there is definitely more to the story.
If the store would have closed sooner my feelings & opinions may be different.

Holy Black Helicopters Batman! He was having trouble with DISH because recently a customer could call DISH and get equipment for cheaper then what he paid for the same equipment from DISH. In addition he was having trouble getting receivers. The receivers he did have in stock wouldnt move because again if he sold them at the price DISH was selling to consumers he would be selling at a loss. It then got to a point where he was waiting for equipment which never came that customers ordered from him. He didn't like to disappoint his customers anymore and decided to close the store. He didn't want to give his customers sub par service. I think that the most honest and honorable thing he could have done. For over 9 years he served thousands and hardly had a complaint (and when he did he went above and beyond to take care of the customer.)

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. There will be no twice for me. I'd just do without if this were my only option for service.
Can't fool you twice, hard to fool you when the store is closed. ;)

Thanks Claude for 9 years of serving the customer! :D

I don't think dish wants customers to own their equipment anymore.

I think the only people making any money off receivers is the 4 or 5 master distributors for echostar.

I'll miss the DishStore net. Bought two of my three current receivers, a now retired/traded-in receiver and a few accessories including two SW64s for my mom's legacy system from DishStore.net. I love shopping on line and really hate calling for anything. Not sure what I'll do for my next purchase. Time will tell. Thanks for the great service while the net store was operating!

I would recommend DishDepot.COM or SolidSignal.COM. Both want to be sponsors here, but I am not sure if I want additional sponsors going forward. (not a knock on either company, although SolidSignal has Stuart Sweet from the other site working for them, and whenever he has news he seems to post it over there and never posts it here, so I count that as a strike against them. :D Just kididing I have purchased a few things from them over the past few months!)

The reason for this is that honestly the Syndicated ads pay a lot more plus there are a lot of headaches (at times) with Dedicated sponsorships. Not many people know this but over the years I have REMOVED 5 sponsors from the site (they wanted to stay) and the reason I removed them were due to a number of reasons...

1) Not servicing the customer the way I would like. If someone is listed here as a SatelliteGuys gold sponsor its our name along with the sponsor. If I get complaints and they are not handled well then I gave them the boot.

2) The quality of the products was crap! We had a few sponsors start off by selling good quality stuff, but then later on was getting a lot of complaints about them selling bootless knockoffs of the real products they were selling. Infact in some cases there were lawsuits involved about their knockoffs by the OEM who made the real equipment. I dont want to sell my members JUNK.

3) We got rid of a few companies because when a customer needed support for a product the sponsor would send them here for support (which we don't mind that's what we do.) But a majority of the support for these companies was "help me steal DISH Network service." which we would reply we don't do that here and then I would get an email back with lots of swears saying that I ripped them off, when I didn't sell them a thing.

4) We have had a few sponsors here that I gave the boot because they thought that because they were buying ad space that they could spam in any thread on the forums. While we work with our sponsors (such as SatelliteAV with their new microHD receiver) to promote their product where appropriate being a sponsor here is NOT a license to spam. We even have one try mass spamming our members via PM's. We don't like spam and we know you guys don't like spam so guess what happened those sponsors got the boot.

Whats funny about almost all of these sponsors is they wanted to pay more to be able to stay. And once I actually let one sponsor back and within a few weeks he was spamming users again. I quickly gave him the boot and refunded him the rest of the money he paid.

We have been offered a LOT of money over the years for sponsorship here (including 1 time only email mailing which would have netted me in the mid 6 figures) and I said NO our members and their email addresses are not for sale.

Every week I get many companies looking to advertise, most of them start ups or mom and pops, these folks are here today and gone tomorrow. If I ran this site to really make a profit I would be taking all their money left and right, but I don't because I want only THE BEST for our members. I want you to buy from a company you can trust and who will be here for you when you need them!

DISHSTORE the online store may be gone, but Claude is still here and is always willing to help a DISHSTORE customer out any way he can. And thats something I love and respect about Claude and the way he ran DISHSTORE the past 9 years! I can safely say that almost up until the end when he started having issues DISHSTORE was the Gold Standard of Satellite stores. And when he started having issues no one was more upset about the problems then Claude because he knew this was not the way he wanted to run things. And again thats why he closed the online store. Claude is a man who really cared about his customers!

Thank you Claude for 9 great years!!

Probably because I was the last online customer. Received a shipment today that was ordered on the 9th, shipping was $1+ higher than the original order minus a receiver. Say what you want it is your site, but my mind is made up. I will not do business with him ever again or publicly endorse him.

What's your address I will send you a dollar.

How about some additional funds for time & aggravation. The equipment I ordered was for a time sensitive job & not myself.

Lol sorry about that it's called life.

Being that I live in the Detroit area and as a satellite guys member I had Claude's team do my dish install. Service was great, and the promotions you had were very good

No I dont think you were the last, but I do know that he was upset about your order as he was waiting for receivers which did not come (I don't know if they got there yet) when they were supposed to.

If you want to be considered the last customer then be my guest if it makes you feel better. I know I wouldn't be happy if I was expecting something and it didn't come as well. You do have a right to be upset about that and I don't blame you at all. But look at it this way, he closed the store so something like that would never happen to another customer again. If that's not caring for the customers then I don't know what is. :)

Lots of dealers in my area have closed. Dish had obviously made the decision that they are big enough to not have to rely on a dealer network any more. Essentially when Dish started they needed the local sales people to talk people in to the new technology - there would be someone local to take care of them. Now Dish is an accepted mainstream product and quite frankly does not see the need to share the profits with local dealers. It will take a few years, but Dish will probably not have any local dealers in the long run.

If I'm not mistaken you has ordered a 1000.4 and a 211k.

The original order was about $242 including shipping.

I discounted the 1000.4 from $79 to $59 due to the fact we didn't have a 211 in stock and charged about $44 in shipping for a total of about $104.

The actual shipping was $55 but I only charged what was on the invoice.

I'm sorry we where out of stock on your item, but I did discount your order. I don't see where your coming up with an extra dollar.

Claude this is the invoice created during checkout & the 1 you sent stapled to what you actually charged me, which was $104.15.

It shows the shipping for both items & a total @ checkout. Now tell if I'm wrong but $104.15 - $59 for dish = $45.15 for shipping???
I ordered bright & early on a Monday morning. A full 48 hrs had passed & order was still pending, so I called & your people said I needed to speak to you & that you wouldn't be available until later in the day. So at that point I thought a pm would probably be the best route. Another 24 hrs passed before you responded. So knowing you were out of 211's & didn't have a straight answer when you would be getting some took 3 days to find this out. What ever happened to sending someone an email within 24 hrs of an order saying "sorry we are out of stock with this item"?
So yeah I'm aggravated with the whole deal & I feel the right to be so. With that said & my experience with what should have been a simple transaction there would be no twice for me in regards to myself or any recommendations to have someone sign up for new dish or directv service through the dish store.

Should have been $59 for the Dish plus $44.16 for the shipping total $103.16

I'll look at the invoice when I get in the office, and refund the difference if I charged you an extra $1. Whatever the reason, it was not intentional.

I understand it took a few days to get your order processed, but at the same time thats why I made the offer to discount the Dish $20 for the inconvience.

Out of running the store for 9 years, your probably just one of a handfull of people who we had run out of inventory in filling an order.

So shipping is the same with or without the receiver?
Don't bother with any refunds, I am done with this & moving on.

A DISH 1000.4 is sent in 3 oversized boxes and all 3 are heavy. Which is why the shipping was so much.

The distance is less than 600 miles. The check out process quoted me a shipping price for the dish & a 211 & I was OK with that price. Like a dummy I assumed the shipping would probably be a tad cheaper without the 211, not the same or higher. I guess I'm the only 1 who sees a problem with that.

I just mailed a 1.1 lb GPS via UPS and to ship it ground to the winner it was $18.03! Shipping is EXPENSIVE these days.

If I remember correctly the total weight for all 3 DISH 1000.4 box was 85 lbs.

The DISH 211 is only a few pounds, and I know claude has been able to save costs in the past by shipping a receiver inside one of the dish boxes so this way he wasn't peying seperate shipping on 4 boxes.

I know when I got my DISH 1000.4 from him I too was shocked at the shipping costs, but when it got here I figured out why it was so much.
