EchoStar said Mike O'Hara will join the company in October as a senior advisor to assist executive management with channel expansion, new platform distribution and merchandising, and strategic direction. O'Hara is best known for his work at CE giant Thomson, which he is leaving today. O'Hara also plans to launch Summus Ventures Limited in Indianapolis focusing on consulting with EchoStar senior management and pursuing private investment ventures.
EVENTS -- XM Satellite Radio said it will broadcast Farm Aid 2006 live Saturday from the Tweeter Center at the Waterfront in Camden, N.J. The broadcast will take place on the company's Americana channel X Country (XM 12). The lineup will feature performances by Farm Aid directors Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews as well as musicians Jerry Lee Lewis with Roy Head; Los Lonely Boys; Gov't Mule; Steve Earle; Steel Pulse; Shelby Lynne; and others.
PERSONNEL -- International Datacasting Corporation (IDC) named Edward DiCarlo vice president of sales and marketing. In this role, DiCarlo will oversee sales, marketing and new product/service development for IDC worldwide.
