Iowa Telecom Announces Strategic Partnership with EchoStar

NEWTON, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2006--Iowa Telecommunications Services, Inc. (NYSE: IWA - News) and EchoStar Communications Corporate (NASDAQ: DISH - News) today announced a strategic partnership to provide EchoStar's DISH Network(TM) digital satellite TV to Iowa Telecom customers. The relationship allows Iowa Telecom to offer customers multi-channel digital TV as part of its bundled service offerings, all on a single bill.

Iowa Telecom will bundle its voice and data services with nearly 200 entertainment, sports, news and children's channels, access to digital video recorders (DVR), high-definition (HD) programming and a wide selection of interactive programming.

"This agreement puts Iowa Telecom in a strong strategic position to compete with other service providers in our markets by putting in place the video component of a 'triple play' offering of telephone, television and broadband."

Customers will be able to contact Iowa Telecom to order DISH Network service, schedule installation and inquire about monthly billing. Installation and technical support will be handled by DISH Network.

Old news in most of the country...

SBC (now AT&T) has been doing this for quite a long time in my area of Texas. Glad to see this is finally hitting the more rural parts of the country.
