OH NO! That is my cell phone company! I would hate to see DISH run this in the ground like they did Blockbuster .

UGH! Are you going to make this comment every time? You know that Dish didn't run Blockbuster into the ground, it was already there. This has been talked over many times but you keep bringing it up.

I agree with Mike. Despite BBV being in bankruptcy, it had a great brand name, thousands of stores nationwide, and what does Dish do with those assets? Milked the name only and then dumped it! If their intention was to liquidate assets all along, then why not liquidate assets rather than providing such abysmal service for a year (or whatever it was)? I was one of those who was lucky to get one DVD/mo. Dish never did issue any new clients for streaming; my DVR streaming came from preexisting channels. The abject failure to execute on their initial vision is just plain jaw-dropping. IMHO whoever was in charge of things should have been canned. He or she couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag.

LTE only benefits those in cities with smaller populations. Once they get enough people on the towers LTE is not a whole lot different from 3G. That's the name of the game. Not to give the customer faster speeds, but to allow more people to share the towers and have reasonable speeds. Data caps also make the faster speeds of LTE less relevant.

I doubt Sprint will make an offer on T-Mobile, they would know it would probably be shot down by the government. What would Sprint really gain? They have so much spectrum that T-Mobile's is not critical. The press loves rumors though and nothing better than talk of a bidding war to stir up interest. I would not be surprised if Dish buys part of T-Mobile, not the whole thing.

You mean Softbank? Payback for Charlie running up the bill Sun had to pay for Sprint!

Actually, Blockbuster was dead. If the other bidder had won, all the inventory and the brand would have been liquidated immediately. Dish TRIED to keep a failing, outdated business model afloat. Sadly, it just wasn't possible.

Which is another reason to like T-Mobile, as their 3G speeds with HSPA+ are awesome. So, even when falling back to 3G, I'm still flying.

With VZW, when I fell of the crowded LTE back onto 3G, it was very slow indeed.

The stores are irrelevant to the discussion. Dish had an opportunity for a streaming on-demand service using the BB brand, and they blew it.

I doubt anybody expected the retail DVD rental biz to survive.
