What dishnet stb's are still in use I have an older Echostar 6000U HD and was wondering can this still be activated for service?

yes your welcome larry, you have nothing to loose by calling them they may replace free nothing to loose.

It will still get OTA HD channels, but nothing through Dish.

It's an MPEG2 box and all of Dish's HD is MPEG4.

not sure but i got a question , can i use a 2700 reciever for prepaid system?
bought it at yard sale and already have dish

No you can add it to your existing account but DISH NOW systems are specially keyed R00 numbers for pay as you go. They appear to be in the process of shutting down the DISH NOW concept.
