This was a new one on me. I did an installation for a returning customer. (They were switching back from D* - long story about BestBuy and an HD Tivo unit). Anyway, they had an odd account number and they told me that they used to have DishNetwork on a BIG dish using a 4D receiver. Now, I knew that Echostar has been around since about 1981 and there are still Echostar brand C-Band receivers out there (E-bay!), but I never heard of DishNetwork as a program provider on C-band (Ku-band also?). When I closed out the work order with the CSR in Tulsa he stated that yes they do service some big dish customers out of his office.

My questions are as follows:

1. Is anybody else familiar with this? Is this similar to Skyvision or NPS?

2. How long did they offer this service?

3. Is this still available to new customers?

It isn't DISH Network that was delivered on "C" Band. They sold programming that was decoded with Videocipher or Digicipher. In fact it was through NPS.
