DishTV does not want my boxes back because they are too old. I thought the customer service person after saying that in the future I'd be getting a bill for antenna usage said that I could go to DishTV/recycle for drop off locations. However I cannot find it.

Does it exist?

I know my local community has electronic recycling events but you pay for everything you drop off.

I'll stick a shoot-n-see target on the dish and drop it off at the salvage yard when it looks like swiss cheese
:)

I'd hold onto it for a couple months just to make sure they don't want it back, unless you have an email from them clearly stating they don't want it.

Around here E waste drop offs are free for most anything like computers, monitors, car batteries, etc. I'm surprised you would have to pay.

A friend of mine has to dispose of around a thousand satellite receivers/DVRs and here are just a few. He was originally going to take them to an E waste facility but found a place that will pay maybe a buck fifty each for gold recovery. Either way its a PIA.
