I have a model 3000 and a model 4900 do they nee to be connected to a phone line all the time? I never got charged or not being plugged in. I don't have a phone line next to the receivers.
Do basic receivers need to be connect to a phone line all the time?

There is no charge for ANY non dual-tuner receiver not being plugged into a phone line. The only advantage you gain with it being plugged in is for PPV ordering. Dish will charge you extra if you have to call and order a PPV even.t
