Do i have to buy new equipment to switch from dishnetwork to Diretv?

Hello, this is my first post and i'm a newbie so please bear with me...

I'm switching from dish to directv. Do i have to buy a new receiver and dish? Or can i use my dishnetwork equipment with directv? I currently have Dish 301 and 5OO dish.

The reason why i'm switching is beacause dish calcelled TV Chile without telling or warning me. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sorry for the dumb question but like i said before i'm just a newbie learning the ropes. The reason why i posted in different threads is because the answer i got was simply "no!". And i wanted to get different oppinions. I joined this site so i can try to learn and wanted to know "why not?"

Anyways, thank y'all for your replies. i will do my best to try to read all the threads and learn as much as possible.

BTW, i think this is a great and very helpful site....
