Doctor Strange May Include An Unexpected Villain From The Comics http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/thr...ing-joaquin-phoenix-as-doctor-strange.341321/
We know that when Dr. Stephen Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) becomes the Sorcerer Supreme in Doctor Strange, he’ll do battle with his arch-nemesis Baron Mordo (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor). However, may fans have suspected that Mordo won’t be the only villain in the 2016 blockbuster, be they human or from other realms. A new report says the movie will include a villain from Strange’s earliest years in the comics, though he may not fight the eponymous protagonist.A new rumor circulating online says that Doctor Strange will kick off in 1968 in Kathmandu, where a group of dark magic "Zealots" have opened a portal to another dimension. According to Latino-Review, the man leading this group is named Kaecilius. Hardcore Doctor Strange fans will recognize him as Mordo’s subordinate from the 1960s stories, but going off this description, it sounds like the MCU will use him in a radically different way.Among the villains from Doctor Strange’s rogues gallery, Kaecilius ranks near the bottom in terms of recognizability. In the early Doctor Strange comics he was officially Mordo’s "disciple," but acted more like a glorified errand boy, delivering messages and serving as a field agent. However, for the movie, Kaecilius will be used to introduce moviegoers to the world of magic and set up what’s to come in the present. He’s not serving the same role as he did in the comics, but he was never that well developed anyway, so Marvel gets a pass for taking creative liberties.

Doctor Strange Origin Story Details & New Set Photos http://screenrant.com/doctor-strange-story-details/
After prepping for weeks in London for the production of Marvel’s Doctor Strange where the bulk of the project’s principal photography will take place, director Scott Derrickson and crew having begun shooting scenes in Nepal this week. And thanks to the public locations we’re getting out first first unofficial photos of Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Vincent Strange – out of control beard and all.Doctor Strange is an origin story, the first new origin to be explored in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and by all accounts the film is taking cues from the comics and the wonderful 2007 animated feature which told the same story. And now we have a few more details. In the source material, Stephen Vincent Strange goes from being a brilliant and arrogant surgeon to superheroic Sorcerer Supreme after injuring his hands in a car collision. Desperate to be able to perform operations again and to get his life back, and after exhausting all known resources and options, Strange sets off on a mystical journey of sorts to find the Ancient One (played by Tilda Swinton in the film) – an urban legend of sorts whom he hopes my be his savior. The man of science becomes a man of faith in a way.

Resurrecting a really old thread. I watched Doctor Strange on Netflix yesterday. I was a Marvel comic book collector as a teenager in the '60s, and I had quite a few Doctor Strange books. Seeing the movie, I was really impressed by the visual effects, and how well they reflected the original artwork of Steve Ditko from the earliest books.
