Does Screen Adjustment do anything?

When I use the Screen Adjustment function on my Hopper, it adjusts the Guide but does nothing to the picture itself. Isn't it supposed to adjust the picture too?

It did on my 720p TV with overscan - I was able to see all of the picture for the first time. I don't think it does anything with my 1080p TVs set to dot for dot.
