Does the hopper have IR eye on the front?

I don't recall seeing one on any picture. How does the IR remote work if it doesn't?

Unfortunately, you cannot change IR codes from default (1) like you can on other E* receivers...

Using IR for Slingbox and Zigbee otherwise. Interesting that no way to change IR access code. Hope I am not in situation where I need to.

By IR remote do you mean one of the grey ones say from the 622?
Can you have a combination of the new Hopper remote and one of the old ones?

Yes, you just enable ir on the Hopper via the remote manager. Also make sure your 622 remote is in ir mode and not uhf.
