Does the iPhone app truly work as designed for anyone?

I've had a 922 for about four weeks and have still never gotten the iphone app to work as designed. I can do the workaround where I navigate to recorded programs by using the onscreen virtual remote but it's never worked otherwise.

Dish or Sling seemed to have built a great visual interface where in theory you simply browse throughh your recordings and the with the touch or two of the screen you're streaming that recording....but it doesn't work...and now they're supposedly working on an iPad app...wish they'd fix the iPhone one before moving on!

Does it work for anyone ? Or is everyone just jumping through the hoops and doing the workaround to view recordings?

Strange I can watch my recordings on my iPhone. Have you downloaded the slingpllayer application?

Yes, paid the $29.99 and have talked to Dish advanced tech support twice

So when you say you can watch recordings, do you get to them simply by pulling up your list of recordings, tapping one, and then hitting play? Or are you navigating to them by using the virtual remote? I can watch them but have to use the onscreen virtual remote to get to them and it's a real pain on a three inch screen!

Pulling up the list of recordings on my DVR and pressing play on iPhone. It would probably work better if it didn't start playing the recording on TV1 right away before hitting "Play on iPhone", but that's the way it works at the moment.

Interesting. Thats the way its suposed to work! Mine has never worked. I have tried on a 3GS and an iPhone 4 all running their latest software and also an iPad and it does not work on either.

You're also using the 922?

It is hit or miss for me... Sometimes they will play other times they won't.

A few times I have select play on iPhone and instead of playing there it played on TV1 instead.

That's what's interesting. If I sit in the living room and watch what the 922 does, it actually DOES play back the program I select from the iPhone It just does not play it on the iPhone. Instead it simply streams live TV to the phone even though the 922 is playing the selected recording.

Just tried it on my iPhone and was able to view my recordings. I was just a little tedious having to use the remote to go through the menus. Would be nice if we were able to use the touch screen to tap and select items. :)

Yes, that's pretty much how it works at the moment. Which is really disruptive when someone is actually watching the TV1 output. They need to update the app so it works like the web where you are asked. Do you want to play it on the TV or on the Web?

I have the same problem with the iphone app, need to select dvr then move to recording to play. The web interface (pc) is very similar, rarely starts from selecting recording. mostly have to select dvr then recording. This appears to be a 922 sling problem not an iphone app problem

Blackjackmark, thank you for stating a workaround and the words virtual onscreen remote. My 922 was installed July 16 and I had to go back and forth between iPhone free app and iPhone sling player remote app to wake up my 922 to see my dvr schedule, timers, and recordings and function was great. I never was able to watch a recording on my iPhone--my selection would appear on my tv and I would then be watching live tv on my iPhone, but I could at least schedule new recordings. When 108 hit, I can't get a green light next to word 922 on either iPhone app, nor on my iMac. Again I was on phone with csr. When I saw your words, I played with the virtual remote, and now I can use my iPad or iPhone to watch not only live tv, but also my recordings. I will love it when I see the green light again and can use the sling player mobile as it is supposed to work. At least now I know it is not my 922, nor my router, nor my Home Plug. THANK YOU....

Glad it helped. Just wished I didn't have to help and it'd just work as designed!
