Some tv's that accept 1080i/24 still display everything at 60 Hz and must internally apply the 3:2 pulldown or convert to 60Hz without 3:2 pulldown. Such as the case with blu ray and Hd dvd.

The 24Hz input is useful it the display supports a vertical refresh rate that is a multiple of 24Hz (48Hz, 72Hz, 96Hz or 120Hz) and applies the correct pulldown for the display rate (i.e, 2:2, 3:3, 4:4 or 5:5 respectively).

Can the VIP211 or any dish receiver be forced to display 1080p/i /24 or 720p/24 or maybe through players such as the upcoming Oppo BDP-83?.

Thanks

Wouldn't it be kind of silly to force this on programming that is recorded and sent at 30 or 60 fps? It seems like an extra conversion step that would result in a loss of quality (I guess it depends on what can do a better job at conversion, your tv or the DVR, my bet is on most tv's).
