I thought you could only get 1080p with a HDMI cable but my xbox pushed 1080p in my component input.

1080p works for me over component.

As long as you have a TV that accepts 1080p over component (most don't) then the XBox is one of the few devices that will do it. Also, I believe that it only works on games and interactive data (not movies).
