I have a Dvr 510 receiver and also have a home
theater system set up in my home. My problem is that
my AV Receiver doesn't have an optical input for the
Dvr 510's Optical output that is needed to get 5.1
surround sound. The AV receiver does, however, have 6
separate digital coaxial inputs (1 each for front
left, rear left, center, front right, rear right, and
subwoofer) for 5.1 use. My question is, is there any
way for me to get Dolby 5.1 surround sound in my home
(i.e. is there any way to convert the optical output
from the Dish Receiver into 6 separate coaxial outputs
to connect into my AV receiver)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re:

As far as I can tell, you wouldn't be able to do it that way. The problem is what you have on your A/V receiver is a seperate connection for each channel. For you to seperate the DD stream you would have to have some sort of DD decoder. The dish receiver doesn't decode the stream just passes it through from what I understand. So the only way to do it would to be to have some sort of out board decoder. As far as the availablility on that I really don't know. Maybe someone else can chime in. But if it was me the first place I wold start snooping around would be parts express.

Just a little side info if anyone wants to know. But they do have an analog to digital converter for $50, so I would hope that someone would have a digital to analog of some sort somewhere just can't find one.

There are standalone DD / DTS decoders. I suspect it might be better to instead apply their price towards a new receiver with builit-in decoding.
