Has anyone experienced the following? setup using Dish 1000......3 RG6 leaving DPPtwin/DPdual to input of DPP44. The second input on 44 is open to pc board. Without opening case on the 44 to repair connection, would you advise that port 1 remain connected, move RG6 from port 2 to port 3 and 3 to 4? This would be a temporary connection on input on 44, not output to receivers.

with very few exceptions (old legacy X000 and 7X00 receivers) it doesn't matter which of the inputs you use or in which "order" you connect things to the inputs. What you suggest should work fine, assuming the switch works at all.
