Wondering if you can hook up a dvr onto a computer to record and also to a regular tv?

I don't personally know of any dvr, but there are several software programs that acccomplish this. Depends on your operating system as to what you can use. check out vcd.com.

If you have a TV input video card you can hook the DVR into it and try to record shows from the DVR to the computer. The trouble comes when trying to burn to DVD. Subscription channels like HBO/Showtime have the broadcast flag (even though the court says they don't have to), this makes it difficult to record these programs to DVD, especially if you're using windows.
