Per the spec, this unit has a DOCSIS 3.0 modem gig bit network port.
When connected to the cable shouldn't this unit act as a cable modem.
Therefore I wouldn't need a separate modem for the Internet, just a wireless router connected to the network port.

Another all in one jack of all traits master of none solution. Theoretically I suppose it could act as a cable modem but it's DOCSIS 3, D3.1 is on the horizon. It's 8 x 4 channel modem, 16 x 4 is required for the top speeds when Maxx rolls out in a given area. What about phone customers? They would still need a modem. I suppose it's just a matter of software to get it working, since the hardware is already in a place but it's already outdated. Given that it's outdated, I would suspect and I would hope they don't waste time with this functionality.
