DVR error code 04

My wife DVRed American Idol tonight and when she tried to watch it, she received the following message: "A problem was encountered when opening the file for this DVR event. Please note error code 04" ]She had a different problem two weeks ago in that it only recorded 9 minutes of American Idol. I assume the event she recorded tonight is not retreviable, correct? What caused the error and what can we do to prevent it from re-occuring?

perhaps the newest software version has "anti-doosh protection" and when it detects ryan seacrest it botches the recording. jk

have you tried unplugging the reciever and pluggin it back in to let it reset? or check the "hdd" box in the system info one page to make sure it comes up green? if it continues, contact dish to see about getting it replaced. if you have dhpp it wont cost ya.

Thanks, BTW what is dhpp?is that some sort of warranty type protection plan? We just got DISH last August.
